One of our new clients purchased a small business a few years ago. The acquisition included the company’s computer, containing over a decade of legal paperwork, financial information, and customer data. The computer was an old Dell that had been built to run Windows XP, but had been upgraded with Windows Vista. In the spirit of, “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.” Our client continued to use this old computer and dated software that the original owner purchased and used.
It was all going “beautifully” until one day, two weeks before she needed to get her yearly financials to her accountant, the computer decided that it just didn’t want to start up any more, as old computers are prone to do. [Read more…]
